Pup tent

Well, I've been hearing from a couple friends that they'd like to see pictures of Spartacus in his tent. I have the distinct feeling they are asking this so that they can tease me even more, but I'll oblige anyway . . . =)

He's actually been sleeping in the tent every night for the past couple of weeks (Greg and I have been amping up our running to get ready . . . and the dog gets to practice sleeping . . . something is not quite fair) but the only picture I have of him in the tent is with our friend Alathea who had some fun playing in it the other night. Greg's hand is in there holding Sparty's collar, that was just so that we could actually get Alathea in the picture =)

She's laughing, not crying, I promise!

Camping Dog

Greg and I are going backpacking in a couple of weeks and we thought it'd be fun to bring Spartacus this time =) So Sparty is now the proud owner of saddle bags and a doggy tent, haha. It's not quite as spoiled as it sounds, I promise! When you're backpacking, every extra ounce counts so bringing the dog adds weight (mostly his food) so Spartacus will be packing in all of our food and maybe his own tent (we have yet to see how heavy it will all be) to pull his own weight. And since our tent is a 2 man backpacking tent, there is no way that he'd fit inside, thus his own small tent. We hope that camping will be a Ross Family tradition, so this is all an investment for the future!

Here's the dog with his saddle bags . . . he's not too fond of the tent yet . . .

Our Fisher-dog

We got to take Spartacus with us this last time that we went fishing and he did very well. He actually ventured into the water and seemed to enjoy it. His splashing could have something to do with the fact that we only caught one fish (I caught a 10 in small mouth bass), but Greg says it's more likely that since we were fishing on a stocked stream that wasn't stocked recently that there just weren't any big fish left.

In addition to catching "the only fish in the river", I also caught a Spartacus . . . at one point I laid my pole down to switch lures and Sparty got a little too close and then bolted, which set the hook. He didn't flinch at all while Greg cut the hook and pulled it through. I have a feeling this is only a mild beginning to the Ross Family Adventures . . . =)
